Four Dead, Including Woman and Child, in Land Cruiser Crash in Badakhshan

Badakhshan’s Taliban-run police command said four people, including a woman and a child, were killed and eight others injured when a Land Cruiser overturned in Yftal-e Bala district. The incident took place on Saturday evening, 2 November, in the Kala Qashqar area of the district.

The injured were taken to the provincial capital, Faizabad, for treatment, while the bodies of the victims were airlifted to Kufab district by helicopter. The exact cause of the incident has not been determined by the Taliban police command.

The crash was reported as several other deadly traffic accidents have occurred in different provinces of Afghanistan over the past three days. In Jawzjan, a collision between a Corolla and a motorcycle killed the rider of the motorcycle. In Farah, a passenger vehicle plunged in Farah Rud district, leaving three dead, including a woman and a child, and two others injured.

Traffic accidents leave hundreds dead and injured across the country each year, mainly due to poor road conditions and driver negligence. Despite a recent order from Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada to arrest and punish those responsible for traffic accidents, such incidents continue to be reported daily in various provinces.
