Jordan health minister says death toll in Karak funeral attack rises to 8

Jordan’s health minister on Saturday said the death toll from an attack on mourners at a funeral in Karak province had risen to eight. The attack took place on Friday at a church in the south of the country.

Ibrahim Al-Bedour said in remarks broadcast by Al-Mamlaka television that one of those injured in the attack remained in critical condition.

Earlier, Jordan’s public security director had said seven people were killed and 27 others wounded. The terrorist incident has drawn widespread reaction, and Jordan’s prime minister has declared three days of mourning.

Flags have been ordered to fly at half-mast at ministries, government departments and public institutions in memory of the victims.
