Afghan Red Crescent discusses expanding humanitarian cooperation with European counterparts

Shahabuddin Delawar, head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, said in a meeting with representatives of the Red Cross societies of Austria and Denmark that Afghanistan faces extensive humanitarian needs and spoke about strengthening cooperation.
He expressed gratitude for the humanitarian assistance and continued support provided by these foreign organisations, particularly after the earthquake in Kunar province. Delawar also said that years of crisis and successive hardships have left many Afghan families highly vulnerable, and that aid is still necessary to meet people’s basic needs.
The head of the Afghan Red Crescent pointed to the organisation’s efforts in the health sector and in supporting vulnerable families, and said cooperation with international organisations to help returning migrants become self-sufficient remains a priority.
