EU foreign policy chief calls US-Russia diesel deal a ‘gift to Putin’

Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, has described the US-Russia diesel deal as a “gift to Putin” and said the main focus should be on ending the war in Ukraine.
Kallas made the remarks as a European Union leaders’ summit began. She said a large part of Russia’s war budget is financed by oil revenues and that Moscow must end the war.
The EU foreign policy chief also claimed that Ukraine has the right to target Russian oil refineries. According to her, such attacks fall under Ukraine’s right to self-defence under international law.
