Man Dies After Stabbing in Sheberghan; Brother Detained

Local sources in Jowzjan say a 40-year-old man in the village of Baba Ali Ouzbiki, in Sheberghan city, the provincial capital, died after being wounded in a knife attack.

According to the sources, the incident took place on Wednesday, Oct. 22, and the injured man died after being taken to Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Regional Hospital in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif.

Security officials from the Taliban administration in Jowzjan have confirmed the arrest of the victim’s brother. Abdul Sattar Halimi, spokesman for the Taliban police command in Jowzjan, said the man was detained on suspicion of involvement in the killing.

Halimi added that the motive and how the incident happened are still unclear, and investigations have begun.
