Reuters reports extensive damage in attack on Aramco headquarters

Sources familiar with the matter told Reuters that Tuesday’s attack on the headquarters of Saudi oil giant Aramco in the city of Dhahran caused extensive damage, and that fires broke out on several floors of the building.

The report differs from an announcement by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, which said on Wednesday morning that only a limited fire had occurred in one of Aramco’s office buildings and that one person was killed in the incident.

Yemen’s armed forces had earlier said they targeted the Aramco building in Dhahran, King Khalid International Airport and the company’s refinery in Riyadh in an operation using ballistic and cruise missiles and drones.

According to Yemen’s armed forces, the attacks struck their targets precisely and caused damage and fires. The forces also urged workers and citizens to stay away from the area around Aramco’s oil facilities.
