Lavrov says Putin will meet Xi at next month’s APEC summit

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said President Vladimir Putin will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping next month at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen, China.

Lavrov made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Baku. He said the leaders of the two countries are in regular contact and that Moscow is looking forward to another conversation between Putin and Xi Jinping.

The Russian foreign minister also expressed hope that trade turnover between Russia and China will exceed its previous record this year. He said the two countries’ strategic partnership was important for maintaining stability on the international stage.
