Lavrov to Attend CICA Summit in Baku

Russia’s Foreign Ministry has said Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will take part on Thursday in the seventh summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, known as CICA, in Baku.

The meeting will be held on October 15, 2026, corresponding to 23 Mehr 1405 in the Persian calendar, hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan and supported by the CICA Secretariat. Heads of state and government, representatives of member and observer countries, as well as partner organisations, are expected to attend.

According to information published on CICA’s official website, strengthening dialogue, mutual trust and cooperation among Asian countries, advancing peace and security, and supporting sustainable development are among the main topics of the summit. Azerbaijani media have also reported that the future path of CICA and the body’s role in expanding multilateral cooperation in the Eurasian region will be discussed.
