Taliban administration and EU discuss security and migrant returns

Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, acting interior minister of the Taliban administration, and Thomas Freilson, the European Union’s special representative for Afghanistan, discussed Afghanistan’s security, the return of migrants and regional stability.

The Taliban administration’s Ministry of Interior said the meeting was held with the special representative’s accompanying delegation in attendance. According to the ministry, engagement between Afghanistan and the European Union and the fight against narcotics were also among the topics discussed.

Humanitarian issues and the situation of Afghan migrants were also examined at the meeting. The two sides also discussed the importance of regional efforts to resolve problems between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
