Protests Held in Several US Cities to Demand an End to the Gaza War

As the third year of the war on the Gaza Strip approaches, protests and marches were held in Washington and several US cities in support of Palestinians and to denounce the continuation of the war and US military aid to Tel Aviv.

According to a report by Mehr news agency, citing Shihab news agency, the gatherings were organised around opposition to Washington’s supportive policies toward Israel, with participants calling for an end to the war, an end to the occupation and a halt to US military backing.

In Washington, hundreds of people gathered outside the US Congress and, while condemning Washington’s military and diplomatic support for Tel Aviv, called for a halt to weapons shipments, sanctions against Israel and holding US officials accountable for the consequences of this support.

At the same time, the cities of Chicago in Illinois, Los Angeles in California, Dearborn in Michigan and Providence in Rhode Island also witnessed similar events. Protesters, carrying Palestinian flags and placards, stressed support for Palestinian rights and the need to hold accountable those responsible for crimes against the Palestinian people.

These gatherings are described as part of a broader wave of international protests against the Gaza war and the transfer of weapons to Israel. Earlier, the Global Coalition for Palestine Support announced in early October 2026 coordinated plans across six continents, involving more than 200 organisations in over 60 countries, saying the aim was to press for the implementation of international law, hold Israel accountable and stop arms shipments.

Mustafa Barghouti, secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative movement, had also previously said the coalition was preparing dozens of protests worldwide, including more than 40 marches and protest events in the United States and a series of activities in European, Asian and African countries.
