Taliban Administration Says More Than 2,000 Jeribs of Land Cultivated in Nangarhar

Officials at the Nangarhar Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock under Taliban administration say that this year more than 2,000 jeribs of land have been cultivated in 10 districts of the province, and the yield is estimated to reach about 1,115 metric tons.

According to the department, the land has been cultivated in Hissa-ye Awal Shinwari, Kuz Kunar, Batikot, Sarkh Rod, Khogyani, Pachir Agam, Hisa Mena, Hesarak, Sherzad and Chaparhar districts.

Officials at the department also said that, to increase yields and improve farmers’ capacity, 2,780 people have received training related to agriculture, irrigation, pest and disease control, and crop harvesting methods.

The Nangarhar Department of Agriculture added that using standard farming methods and new technologies can increase domestic production and affect farmers’ economic situation. Nangarhar is one of Afghanistan’s eastern provinces, where a large number of residents depend on agriculture and livestock.
