Afghanistan’s Shia Commission Says Work Continues After Taliban Surround Its Office

The High Commission of Shiites of Afghanistan has said its activities continue without interruption, one day after Taliban administration forces surrounded its office, and that the office remains open as before.

In a statement posted on Facebook on Wednesday, 18 September, the commission said administrative work, services, and the handling of public requests are continuing as usual.

However, the body did not refer in its latest statement to the surrounding of its office, and it remains unclear why Taliban administration forces surrounded the office on Tuesday.

Sources told Etilaat Roz that armed Taliban administration forces surrounded the office of the High Commission of Shiites of Afghanistan at around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 17 September.

The High Commission of Shiites of Afghanistan is one of the institutions affiliated with the Shiite community in the country, and its office has operated in recent years to follow up on the social and administrative affairs of visitors.
