OCHA warns education challenges in Afghanistan threaten children’s future
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned that the continuation of challenges in Afghanistan’s education sector is putting children’s future at risk.
On Sunday, 8 Sunbula, OCHA wrote on X that education can be a path to a better future, but the problems in Afghanistan are threatening that path.
According to OCHA, the lack of educational facilities, shortage of suitable classrooms, absence of a conducive learning environment and a shortage of teachers are among the main challenges facing the education process in Afghanistan.
The agency stressed that sustained investment in education is essential so that girls and boys can learn, grow and prepare for adult life.
OCHA, or the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, is one of the key UN agencies coordinating humanitarian aid and has repeatedly warned about the basic needs of the people of Afghanistan, including in the education sector.
