Trump repeats claim that Strait of Hormuz should be annexed to US

US President Donald Trump has once again repeated his controversial claim about the Strait of Hormuz, placing the waterway in a new image alongside a group of territories associated with the United States.

According to Mehr News Agency, Trump posted the image on the social media platform Truth Social. The move comes days after he also said several times that the Strait of Hormuz should be part of US territory.

In the published image, the Strait of Hormuz is shown alongside Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, Wake Island, Washington, D.C., American Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands.

Trump has previously made similar territorial claims about various regions and countries, including Greenland, Canada and Venezuela. The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world’s most important strategic waterways, and a significant share of global energy transport passes through it.
