EU gives €15 million to World Food Programme in Afghanistan

The World Food Programme has welcomed a €15 million contribution from the European Union to strengthen climate resilience and local food systems in Afghanistan.

The agency said the funding will be used to support livelihoods, create economic opportunities for women and young people, and bolster school feeding programmes.

According to the World Food Programme, the aim of the assistance is to increase the ability of local communities to withstand the impacts of climate change and to support more sustainable access to food in Afghanistan.
