Taliban Claims Trade Cutoff with Pakistan Has No Impact on Afghan Commerce

The Taliban-run Ministry of Finance claims that the suspension of trade relations with Pakistan has not caused any harm or disruption to Afghanistan’s overall commercial activity.
In a statement, the ministry said that despite the halt in trade with Pakistan, customs operations across the country have continued without issue, and both domestic and international traders can still conduct business through alternative routes.
According to the ministry, customs facilities across the country have introduced measures to ease trade with other regional and international partners.
The Taliban administration also stated that it continues to support traders through alternative routes and is working on expanding further facilitation measures.
These claims come amid concerns that severed trade ties with Pakistan could impact the flow of goods—especially food and fuel—into Afghanistan. Observers say the Taliban may be attempting to conceal the realities of the market and cover up its economic mismanagement through such statements.
