Bodies of 13 Taliban Personnel Transferred from Badakhshan to Kandahar

Sources say the bodies of 13 Taliban fighters killed in recent days’ clashes in Badakhshan province have been transferred to the 205 Al-Azam Corps in Kandahar. According to the sources, the families of these individuals have been told not to share with others anything about how they were killed.

According to the sources, the bodies were transferred to Kandahar on Friday, August 23, and are expected to be sent on to their home provinces later. The sources added that these individuals were members of the Taliban administration’s Ministry of Defense special forces.

Based on information from the sources, six of the dead were residents of Helmand, four were from Uruzgan, and three others were from Ghazni. The sources also said the Taliban administration told their families that their relatives had died in a traffic accident.

These casualties followed a clash between the Taliban administration and the forces of Juma Khan Fateh, a disgruntled commander of the group, in Nasi district of Badakhshan. The clash began on Tuesday, and the Taliban administration has confirmed the incident, but has said nothing about the casualties or further details.

Juma Khan Fateh said of the clash that he has no problem with the Taliban administration itself, but that his disagreement is with its forces. He accused Taliban units of killing civilians.

Nasi district in Badakhshan province is located in northeastern Afghanistan. In recent years, Badakhshan has also occasionally witnessed internal tensions and armed clashes among local forces and units affiliated with the Taliban administration.
