Possible Limits on US Diesel Exports Heighten European Concerns
The European Union is once again considering cutting energy consumption as winter approaches, amid concern over possible restrictions on US diesel exports and renewed pressure on Europe’s fuel market, Politico reported.
The American publication said Europe is facing a severe energy shortage and may introduce energy-saving measures as the weather turns colder. Four years after adopting emergency steps to reduce consumption, the EU is now revisiting the issue.
According to Politico, the United States has become one of Europe’s key diesel suppliers, and any possible limits on exports of the fuel could place further strain on the bloc’s fuel market. EU officials have contacted their US counterparts in recent days about the possible consequences of such a move.
