Abu Muslim Farah to Face Bhutan’s Paro in AFC Challenge League Playoff
Abu Muslim Farah, Afghanistan’s representative in the playoff round for qualification to the AFC Challenge League, will face Bhutan’s Paro FC today, Monday, 20 Asad, as it seeks to advance to the next stage.
According to the Afghanistan Football Federation, the match will be held at 4:30 p.m. Afghanistan time at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan.
Abu Muslim Farah earned its place in the competition after winning the Afghanistan Champions League. The team is facing Paro FC for the second consecutive year, an opponent that defeated Afghanistan’s representative last year and ended its run in the competition.
Abu Muslim officials say the team enters this year’s match with a strengthened squad after holding a training camp in Iran, playing warm-up matches and signing a number of domestic and foreign players.
Masoud Nazarzadeh, the Iranian head coach of Abu Muslim Farah, said at a pre-match news conference that his team is ready for the game and that the players will try to secure a victory and achieve a historic qualification for Afghan football.
The AFC Challenge League is a club competition run under the Asian Football Confederation, featuring qualified teams from countries with more limited quotas in Asian club football.
