Mohsin Dawar: Taliban Rule in Afghanistan is Imposed, Not from People’s Will

Mohsin Dawar, leader of the National Democratic Movement in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, stated that the Taliban administration does not represent the will of the Afghan people and that this group has been imposed upon the country’s fate.

In an interview with a private media outlet, he emphasized that the structure and policies of the Taliban administration prevent it from genuinely representing the Afghan people, and that its continued rule has damaged Afghanistan’s national identity.

Dawar also identified the Doha Agreement as one of the contributing factors to the fall of the previous republican government, noting that the National Democratic Movement of Pakistan opposed this agreement from the start.

According to him, Pakistan has used the Taliban beyond financial interests—as a tool to weaken nationalism in Afghanistan and to exert pressure on Pashtun nationalist movements on both sides of the Durand Line.

These remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, where Pakistan’s role in the formation, support, and backing of the Taliban over recent years has consistently been a contentious issue.
