Taliban Administration Emphasizes Boosting Domestic Production, Says Deputy PM

Mullah Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Administrative Chief Minister in the Taliban administration, stated at an economic forum that there is a strong focus on strengthening domestic production in Afghanistan. He emphasized that prioritizing this sector could pave the way for increased exports, reduce economic challenges, and create new job opportunities for the Afghan people.
Speaking at a seminar titled “The Taliban Government’s Policy on Attracting Investment,” organized by Omid Media, Hanafi said that achieving economic self-sufficiency is one of the Taliban administration’s main priorities. According to him, bolstering domestic industries, along with expanding exports, would ensure economic stability and generate sustainable income for the Afghan population.
While economic experts and many Afghan citizens remain skeptical about the current economic situation under the Taliban, Hanafi claimed that the administration is striving to expand trade relations and holds no hostility toward any country in this regard.
He further asserted that the Taliban administration does not intend to wage war against any nation, but from their perspective, defending the country against foreign aggression is considered a legitimate and natural right.
Despite such statements, independent institutions and Afghan citizens have consistently criticized the Taliban administration’s economic policies and the lack of transparent strategies for achieving sustainable development.
