Israeli Warplanes Fly Over Southern Syria as Explosions Reported in Western Latakia

Syrian sources have reported that simultaneously with the extensive flights of Israeli warplanes over the Daraa province in southern Syria, several explosions were heard in the Latakia province in the west of the country.

According to regional media, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that these explosions occurred around the Al-Thawra highway and the Al-Da’tour area in the city of Latakia. No further details about casualties or potential damages have been released.

At the same time, local sources reported extensive flights of Israeli warplanes across the skies of southern Syria, particularly over the Daraa province.

Since the fall of the previous Syrian regime, Israel has increased its presence and military operations in southern Syria and gained control of the strategic heights of Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh).

Some analysts consider these movements as an effort to create a new security reality along Israel’s northern borders, which they say stems from Tel Aviv’s concerns regarding the activities of armed groups. In response, Damascus officials have expressed concern that these operations, considering the repeated deployments and military movements near the ceasefire line, could lead to a long-term Israeli military presence in these areas.
