Suicide Bombing in Pakistan’s Swat District Kills 13

A suicide bombing near a police station in Swat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan, left 13 dead on Friday. According to reports, the attack caused heavy casualties among police forces and civilians.

Agence France-Presse, citing Fida Hussain, the deputy police chief of Swat, reported that the suicide bomber attempted to enter the police station but was stopped at the main gate by security forces before detonating the explosives he was carrying.

The police official stated that the explosion occurred at a busy crossroads and coincided with a civil society protest gathering. He confirmed that 13 people, including eight police officers, were killed in the attack.

The deputy police chief added that 22 others were injured and the body of a suspect believed to be the attacker was taken to the hospital. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
