Fate of 37 Pakistani Youths Missing on Migrant Route to Europe Remains Uncertain
Families of 37 young men from various regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have announced that nearly eight months ago, their children set off for Europe via Libya in search of work and a better future. Since then, there has been no news about their whereabouts.
These families gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club to urge the Pakistani government to engage diplomatically with Libyan authorities and obtain clear information regarding the status of these young men.
According to family members, there is serious concern that some of these youths may have been detained in Libya; however, neither the Pakistani government nor independent sources have confirmed this so far.
The families say they have repeatedly contacted relevant agencies over the past months but have not received satisfactory responses. They are now demanding immediate and effective government action to clarify the fate of their loved ones.
The Libyan route is considered one of the most dangerous paths for migrants heading to Europe, with numerous reports in recent years of arrests, disappearances, or mistreatment of migrants along this route.
