Over Two Million Tons of Cargo Planned for Transport via Khaf-Herat Railway in 2023

The Iran Railway Development Consortium has announced plans to transport over two million tons of cargo through the Khaf-Herat railway line this solar year.
According to the consortium, achieving this goal involves expanding the core infrastructure of the railway line as well as developing border facilities.
The organization added that increasing the cargo transit capacity along this route requires strengthening technical and equipment capabilities across various sections of the line and border areas.
The Khaf-Herat railway is considered a major rail connection project between Afghanistan and Iran, linking Herat province to Iran’s railway network. It is regarded as a key corridor for transit and cargo transport between the two countries.
