Taliban Administration Says Japanese Ambassador Welcomes ‘Progress’ in Afghanistan

The Taliban Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that during a meeting between Dr. Mohammad Naeem, Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration, and Masamotu Kinichi, the Japanese Ambassador in Kabul, bilateral relations and ongoing cooperation were discussed.

According to the ministry, the Japanese ambassador welcomed the “recent positive developments” in Afghanistan and praised efforts to combat narcotics and improve security conditions.

The press release stated that both sides emphasized the expansion of relations and the strengthening of cooperation between Kabul and Tokyo.

The Taliban administration’s remarks on improved security and progress come as no further details have been released regarding the practical aspects of cooperation or specific commitments made by either side during the meeting.
