Taliban Officials Hold Talks with New UNDP Representative in Kabul
The Taliban’s Foreign Ministry has announced that Turhan Saleh, the new United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) representative in Afghanistan, has arrived in Kabul and met with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister.
According to the ministry, the meeting focused on key development cooperation areas, including addressing the situation of returning refugees, supporting the health and agriculture sectors, creating alternative livelihoods to replace drug crop cultivation, and environmental protection.
Additionally, climate change mitigation and responding to the consequences of natural disasters were also discussed. These issues have had a direct impact on the lives of residents in various provinces in recent years.
The Taliban’s Foreign Ministry cited Turhan Saleh as emphasizing the alignment of UNDP’s development programs with Afghanistan’s priorities. No further details have been released regarding the practical outcomes or specific commitments from the meeting.
