Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Urges Taliban to Act Against Militants Amid Rising Tensions

Amid ongoing security tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif once again called on the Taliban administration to take action against militant groups and prevent attacks launched from Afghan territory into Pakistan.

Speaking on Friday in Balochistan province, he noted that Pakistan shares a border of over 2,600 kilometers with Afghanistan. According to Sharif, Islamabad has repeatedly urged Afghan authorities to take measures against “terrorist organizations.” He added that, in his view, the Taliban have failed to take effective steps to control these groups.

Pakistan has previously alleged that some attacks within its borders are planned from Afghan soil, a claim that has strained relations between the two countries.

In response, the Taliban administration has denied these accusations, emphasizing that Afghan territory is not used against any country. Officials from the Taliban have also described the insecurity in Pakistan as an internal matter.
