Pakistan Accuses Taliban Regime of Facilitating Terrorism

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, has stated that the threat of terrorism emanating from Afghan soil is currently one of the most significant security challenges facing his country. These remarks once again highlight the tensions between Islamabad and the Taliban administration.

According to the newspaper Dawn, Dar made these comments on Friday, July 24, during a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization foreign ministers in Kyrgyzstan. He emphasized that achieving peace and lasting stability in the region is impossible without eliminating the terrorist threats originating from Afghanistan.

The Pakistani foreign minister claimed that terrorist organizations continue to recruit, train, and organize forces under the supervision and facilitation of the Afghan Taliban regime from Afghan territory. He also noted that some Afghan nationals have been involved in terrorist incidents inside Pakistan.

Islamabad has previously accused the Taliban administration of harboring and supporting anti-Pakistan groups, allegations that Taliban officials have consistently denied. These tensions persist amid an increase in border insecurity between the two countries in recent months.
