Taliban Authority Announces New Aid Program for Needy Families
While many returnees and needy families continue to face livelihood challenges and shelter shortages, the head of the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations has announced the launch of a new aid distribution process.
According to the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir raised this issue during a meeting with several jihadist figures and tribal elders from the Greater Paktia region. The meeting focused on the situation of returnees, the services provided, and the tribal elders’ suggestions.
The tribal elders emphasized that, following requests from returnees, assistance related to food supplies and shelter has been provided to some needy families, but they called for the continuation and expansion of such services in their areas.
Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, while appreciating the role of the tribal elders, described addressing the people’s problems as a responsibility of the administration. He claimed that a new aid distribution process has begun through the ministry’s efforts and that efforts are underway to extend this aid to more families. He also stated that the proposals raised will be pursued in coordination with the relevant departments.
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations of the Taliban administration talks about expanding aid while thousands of families returning from neighboring countries in recent years have put additional pressure on the already limited support resources in various provinces.
