Taliban Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada Reshuffles Local Officials in Academic, Cultural, and Security Sectors

Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban administration, has issued a new decree implementing changes in several local positions within the academic, cultural, and security sectors of the administration.

According to the decree published on Wednesday, July 22, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Ghaznawi, a former member of the Darul Ifta of the Taliban Supreme Court, has been appointed as the head of Kandahar University. Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Tayebi, the former head of the university, has been appointed as Deputy Minister of Culture and Arts of the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture.

Additionally, Atiqullah Azizi, the former Deputy Minister of Culture and Arts, has been named head of Information and Culture in Herat.

In the security sector, Mohammad Ismail Rasikh, the former police commander of Jowzjan province, has been appointed as governor of the province. Abdul Karim Nafiz, the former deputy of the 217 Omari Corps, has been named the new police commander of Jowzjan. Abdullah Sarhadi, the former governor of Jowzjan, has been appointed as the new deputy of the 217 Omari Corps.
