Former US Lawmaker Criticizes Trump’s Policy in the Strait of Hormuz

Marjorie Taylor Greene, former member of the US Congress, has criticized President Donald Trump’s handling of the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, saying that the role of the US military has been reduced to the “Hormuz Strait police.”

In a social media post, she claimed that the ongoing war “started for Israel” and is now focused on the Strait of Hormuz and control over oil. According to her, attacks have also expanded to electricity and water facilities in Iran and Kuwait, a situation that could endanger civilians due to the disruption of essential services.

Greene also alleged that American soldiers have been killed as a result of a war that, according to her, Trump and his administration have waged “on behalf of a foreign government.” She accused certain figures and Israel of exerting influence over the US president’s decisions.

These remarks come amid domestic reactions and criticisms within the US regarding Trump’s policies towards Iran and the focus on security in the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical oil transit chokepoints, and any tension there has broad economic and security repercussions internationally.
