14 Water Supply Networks Inaugurated in Sar-e Pol at Cost of 56 Million Afghanis

The Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development of the Taliban in Sar-e Pol province announced that 14 water supply networks have been constructed and put into operation in the provincial center and several of its districts at a cost of 56 million Afghanis. These projects were implemented with financial support from UNICEF, ActionAid, and the Humanitarian Coordination Institute.

Mullah Mohammad Jumma Haqyar, head of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in Sar-e Pol, stated that these networks were established in the provincial center and the districts of Sancharak, Sozma Qala, and Gosfandi. The projects include the drilling of deep wells, construction of water reservoirs, installation of solar power systems, setting up 1,640 water taps, and laying 67,800 meters of pipelines.

According to him, with the completion of these projects, 3,500 families in the aforementioned districts have gained access to clean drinking water. Earlier news reports had mentioned that over 300,000 families would benefit, but the details provided by this department indicate the number is 3,500 families.

Sar-e Pol is a northern province of the country where many residents have faced shortages of safe drinking water in recent years. The implementation of such projects can significantly improve health conditions and reduce problems caused by water scarcity in rural areas.
