40-Year Border Dispute Between Logar and Nangarhar Districts Resolved

Local officials in Logar have announced the resolution of a nearly four-decade-long border dispute between the residents of Azra District in Logar and Hesarak District in Nangarhar. The conflict was settled through mediation by a high-level Taliban administration delegation, tribal elders, and religious leaders.

According to these officials, a joint meeting was held in the border area between the two districts, attended by the Deputy Governor of Logar, the Governor of Nangarhar, members of the technical delegation from the Ministry of Interior, district governors, representatives of relevant departments, religious scholars, and tribal elders. The meeting aimed to reach a final agreement on the contested border line.

Maulvi In’amullah “Salahuddin,” Deputy Governor of Logar, stated that the dispute was resolved fairly and permanently based on technical evaluations, historical documents, and professional surveys. He emphasized that the geographical boundaries between the two districts have been clearly defined to prevent future tensions among livestock owners, farmers, and other residents.

He added that ending this conflict could strengthen security, enhance social coordination, and pave the way for the expansion of agriculture, trade, and other economic activities in the region.

In previous years, the lack of transparent mechanisms and undefined administrative boundaries in several provinces had sparked local conflicts—a matter that the residents of these areas have consistently called for fundamental and lasting resolution.
