Top 10 Entrants of 1405 University Entrance Exam Honored in Kabul

On Sunday, the General Directorate of Examinations in Kabul officially recognized ten top performers in the 1405 university entrance exam during a formal ceremony. Officials from the directorate announced that approximately 117,000 candidates participated in this year’s exam, with over 74,000 gaining admission to higher education institutions.
Abdul Baqi Haqqani, head of the General Directorate of Examinations, stated at the event that the directorate has worked to manage the exam process transparently to ensure that “rights reach their rightful owners.” He emphasized that Afghanistan requires both modern and religious education simultaneously, and both sectors must be strengthened.
Meanwhile, Abdul Salam Hanafi, administrative deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office under the Taliban administration, claimed that the government has utilized all available resources to promote education and higher learning. He urged graduates to act responsibly towards the country’s development after completing their studies.
This comes amid serious challenges facing education and higher education in recent years, with restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration—particularly on girls’ education—drawing widespread domestic and international criticism. Despite the holding of the exam and the honoring of top candidates, questions remain about equal access to higher education for all citizens.
