Taliban Approves Construction of Two Commercial Complexes in Kabul’s District One

The Taliban’s Inter-Ministerial Investment Committee has approved plans to construct two commercial complexes on land belonging to the Ministry of Finance in Kabul’s District One. This decision was made during a meeting where, after review, the plans were deemed “approvable.”

The Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister’s Office announced in a statement that the “Zahershahi” complex will be built to standard specifications in the Mandawi area of District One, with an investment of 161 million Afghanis across eight floors. According to the office, this project will provide permanent employment opportunities for dozens of people.

Additionally, another commercial complex is planned to be constructed in the same district with five floors, which authorities say will create job opportunities for several residents.

District One of Kabul is considered one of the busiest and most commercially active areas of the capital, and the construction of new complexes could impact the economic situation of the area. However, the Taliban administration has not yet provided further details regarding contract allocation processes, project completion timelines, or mechanisms for monitoring budget usage—issues whose transparency is crucial for gaining the trust of citizens and investors.
