Taliban’s Industry Minister Emphasizes Addressing Carpet Makers’ Challenges

Noureddin Azizi, the Taliban administration’s Minister of Industry and Trade, underscored support for the carpet industry and addressing the problems faced by producers and exporters in a meeting with members of the Afghan Carpet Producers and Exporters Union. He urged the union officials to submit their challenges and proposals in writing to the ministry to expedite the review and follow-up process.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s newsletter, union members stated during the meeting that all members have registered companies and official licenses to operate from the ministry. They identified a shortage of suitable land for their activities, the necessity to work in residential areas, insufficient shops for carpet sales, and other issues as their main challenges.
The union members stressed that continuing this situation could negatively affect the production and export of Afghan carpets and called on the Ministry of Industry and Trade to take concrete steps to facilitate practical solutions.
After hearing their views, the Minister described Afghan carpets as one of the country’s most important export items and a symbol of national identity and pride. He noted that the red color in Afghan carpets represents the dignity of the people of this land. He also emphasized maintaining unity among producers and promised that the issues raised would be reviewed after receiving them in written form.
