Trump Claims Talks with Iran Progressing Well Amid Indirect Meetings in Doha

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, stated in his recent remarks that the talks related to Iran are “progressing well,” claiming that both sides are moving toward an agreement and what he referred to as “the denuclearization of Iran.” These comments come as technical meetings are being held indirectly between Iranian and American delegations in Doha.

Trump emphasized that there have been advancements in the agreement process and asserted that Iran has traveled a “long way.” He also claimed that improvements in stock markets, declines in oil prices, and reductions in retail rates are outcomes of recent developments benefiting everyone.

In another part of his statements, the U.S. president referred to recent American attacks against Iran, describing them as “powerful.” These attacks have heightened tensions in the region, with reports indicating exchanges of strikes between both sides, raising concerns over an escalation of conflict in the Gulf region.

Meanwhile, a White House official told Fox News that talks on an agreement with Iran are ongoing, and technical teams are examining the terms of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries. The official added that President Trump prefers a diplomatic solution and believes both parties have the opportunity to achieve “a good agreement.”

On the other side, Iranian officials have stated that there are no plans for direct negotiations with the United States at any level in the coming days. According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, a technical delegation led by Kazem Gharibabadi, the ministry’s deputy, has traveled to Qatar to follow up on the implementation of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, and the meeting held in Doha involves Qatar’s participation.

Reuters has also reported that technical meetings with mediators, including Qatar and Pakistan, are underway. The two main topics discussed are the supervision of the Strait of Hormuz and the release of Iran’s frozen funds. These developments come as recent events have underscored the importance of stability in regional waterways and managing political tensions.
