Over 1,200 Migrant Families Forcibly Returned to Afghanistan

According to Taliban-affiliated media outlets, a total of 1,203 migrant families were forcibly returned to Afghanistan on Sunday, September 21, from neighboring countries.

Reports indicate that most of the families — 810 in total — entered through the Torkham border in Nangarhar province. Another 156 families crossed via Spin Boldak in Kandahar, 14 through the Silk Bridge crossing in Nimroz, 90 through Bahramcha in Helmand, and 133 families entered through the Islam Qala border in Herat.

Just two days earlier, more than 1,000 migrant families had also been sent back, highlighting the ongoing large-scale repatriation of Afghan refugees from neighboring states.

Despite the growing number of returnees, the Taliban administration has yet to provide clear information on security, livelihood opportunities, or access to basic services for these families. Concerns are mounting over their future as unemployment, lack of healthcare, and limited educational access remain serious challenges across much of the country.
