Kabul Municipality Urges Acceleration of Road Construction Projects

Kabul Municipality has announced that the implementation of several major road construction and infrastructure projects in the capital is under the direct supervision of the authority, emphasizing the need for their acceleration and standardized execution. According to the municipality’s press office, Mawlawi Abdul Rashid, the Mayor of Kabul, visited the motorized pedestrian bridge project opposite Kabul Province, Bagrami Road up to the Stanakzi intersection and Bini Hesar, as well as the first phase of the Bagrami–Lateband to Kabul–Jalalabad Road.
Based on the published information, during these visits, the Mayor instructed officials, engineers, and contracting companies to carry out all work phases in accordance with technical and construction standards. He warned that any negligence would not be tolerated, and if low-quality work is observed, the project will be demolished and rebuilt.
Mawlawi Abdul Rashid also directed the effective use of available resources and strict adherence to technical documents to ensure projects are completed within the set timeframe. He emphasized conducting laboratory tests on construction materials before use to guarantee work quality at all stages.
Kabul Municipality leadership stated that these projects will be commissioned this year, and upon their completion, traffic congestion will decrease, and residents’ access to urban infrastructure will improve. However, some Kabul residents have consistently criticized the slow progress of projects and lack of transparency in contracts—a matter the Taliban administration is expected to address seriously alongside technical supervision to gain public trust.
