Taliban Appoints and Transfers Five Senior Officials in Defense and Interior Ministries

According to an order from the leader of the Taliban administration, five senior officials in the Ministries of Defense and Interior, the General Directorate of Standards and Quality, as well as in Zabul province, have been appointed and transferred. Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban administration, announced these changes.

According to him, Mullah Abdullah Basir, who was previously the Deputy of Technology and Logistics at the Ministry of Defense, has been appointed as the head of the General Directorate of Standards and Quality. Additionally, Mawlawi Mohammad Ali Jan, the former Deputy for Loya Jirgas, Tribes, and Integration Affairs at the Ministry of Borders and Tribes, has been appointed as the Deputy of Technology and Logistics at the Ministry of Defense.

Mujahid added that Mawlawi Hizbullah Afghan, the former head of border police, has been assigned as the Chief of Staff to the Senior Deputy at the Ministry of Interior. Meanwhile, Mullah Abdul Rahim Ahmad, who was previously Chief of Staff to the Senior Deputy, has now taken charge as head of the border police.

Furthermore, Mullah Faizullah Tamim, the former head of the General Directorate of Standards and Quality, has been appointed as the deputy governor of Zabul. The Taliban administration has not provided details regarding the criteria and reasons behind these transfers, a subject that has consistently raised questions about transparency and meritocracy within its administrative structure.
