Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Visits Kabul Markets Amid Efforts to Boost Economic Ties

Serik Zhumangarin, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, who is leading a high-level delegation to Afghanistan, visited parts of Kabul before returning to his country. This morning, he went to the Shahr-e Naw area, especially the antique markets alley, where he closely observed the activities of shopkeepers, traders, and the overall business environment in the region.

This visit took place a day after the inauguration of the Afghan-Kazakh Forum, attended by officials from both sides and representatives from the private sector. The declared goal of the forum is to expand economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan.

The high-level delegation’s trip is part of the two countries’ efforts to strengthen economic relations amid Afghanistan’s current conditions, a country facing serious challenges in its economy and regional interactions following recent political developments.

Meanwhile, some experts view the Kazakh delegation’s visit to central Kabul as a sign of improved security conditions. However, assessing the level of stability and security in the country requires independent and comprehensive evaluations—a matter that has consistently been a focus for oversight bodies and citizens alike.
