Taliban Invites Uzbek Investors to Explore Opportunities in Afghanistan Markets

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Taliban administration announced that approximately 100 Uzbek traders are scheduled to travel to Kabul in July this year. This was discussed during a meeting between Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid and Tashkent Governor Zafar Mirzaev.
According to the published report, both sides talked about expanding economic and trade cooperation between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. The main focus of the discussions was on investment opportunities, industrial collaboration, increasing the role of the private sector, and developing mutual trade relations.
Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid described Afghanistan as a suitable market for investment and urged Uzbek investors to invest in industry, commerce, and other economic sectors. He also invited the Governor of Tashkent to visit Afghanistan to closely examine the available opportunities.
In response, the Tashkent Governor emphasized the necessity of greater coordination to grow investment and develop trade between the two countries and promised to come to Kabul in July with a delegation of nearly 100 Uzbek traders.
This meeting takes place while the Taliban administration, despite efforts to expand regional economic ties, has not yet been recognized by many countries. Nonetheless, officials of the administration are attempting to stimulate greater economic activity in the country through economic engagement and attracting foreign investment.
Both sides expressed hope that such meetings could strengthen economic relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and pave the way for future joint investments.
