28 Arrested and 8 Tons of ‘Waman’ Seized in Kabul and Kandahar Drug Raids

The Ministry of Interior has announced that 28 individuals suspected of drug trafficking have been arrested across various parts of Kabul. During these operations, more than eight thousand kilograms of ‘Waman,’ three kilograms of opium, and 1,243 narcotic pills were discovered and confiscated.
On Tuesday, the Ministry posted on its official X account that the arrested individuals were identified from different sectors of Kabul and detained by security forces. According to the source, the seized substances included narcotic pills and some quantity of opium as well.
In a separate statement from the same ministry, police forces in the districts of Maiwand, Spin Boldak, and Ghorak in Kandahar province uncovered and dismantled a drug production and processing factory.
According to the Ministry of Interior, this factory yielded over eight thousand kilograms of ‘Waman’ along with some raw materials used in drug production. The Taliban administration reports an increase in operations against drug trafficking, while previous reports have indicated ongoing activity of trafficking networks in some provinces. Citizens have called for transparent and sustained measures to combat this issue.
