Afghanistan Exports 80,000 Tons of Cotton Amid Efforts to Diversify Trade Routes

The Helmand Chamber of Industry and Mines has announced that approximately 80,000 tons of cotton have been exported from Afghanistan to foreign markets this year. According to the organization, efforts to find alternative export routes continue.

Officials from the chamber say that cotton is one of Afghanistan’s important agricultural products, with Helmand province being one of the main production areas. They believe that access to diverse transit routes can facilitate the export process and prevent reliance on limited pathways.

Exporters have consistently emphasized the need for more facilitation in transportation and access to regional and international markets. They state that stability in export routes and the reduction of trade barriers play a significant role in strengthening the agricultural sector and increasing the income of domestic producers.
