UNICEF Highlights Role of 50 Early Childhood Development Centers in Afghanistan

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that there are currently 50 nutrition and early childhood development centers operating in Afghanistan, providing educational and supportive services to children and their families.

According to UNICEF, at one of these centers in Kabul, children have the opportunity to enhance their cognitive and social skills through drawing, storytelling, and group games. These activities are part of the Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs, which focus on nurturing intellectual, emotional, and social abilities during the early years of life.

UNICEF emphasized that investing in proper nutrition and primary education during the early years plays a decisive role in the future of children and can provide a better foundation for subsequent education and active participation in society.

Given that many families face economic challenges, the continuation and expansion of such centers become even more crucial. It is expected that the Taliban administration will facilitate broader implementation of these supportive programs in other provinces of the country to enable more children to benefit from these services.
