Taliban’s Acting Finance Minister Meets UN OCHA to Discuss Continued Humanitarian Aid and Economic Challenges

The Taliban’s Ministry of Economy announced that Din Mohammed Hanif, the acting head of the ministry, met with Tajuddin Eiwali, head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), to discuss the continuation of humanitarian assistance, addressing the problems of returnees, and the rising prices of foodstuffs.
According to published information, both sides focused on solutions to the challenges faced by Afghan returnees, who in recent months have encountered widespread livelihood difficulties, lack of shelter, and limited employment opportunities. The OCHA chief assured during the meeting that support for Afghan returnees will continue.
Meanwhile, the acting finance minister of the Taliban administration emphasized increasing development aid, creating job opportunities, and lifting sanctions. He stated that expanding development projects could be effective in reducing poverty and controlling rising food prices.
The rise in food prices and shortage of job opportunities are considered serious economic challenges in the country. Some experts believe these issues require transparent planning, effective management, and responsible engagement by the Taliban administration with the international community to ensure that aid reaches those in need in a targeted manner.
