Four Killed in Armed Clash Near Sarai Shahzada Market in Kabul

Khalid Zadran, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Kabul Police Command, confirmed that four people were killed in an armed clash near Sarai Shahzada. The incident took place today, Sunday, June 3rd, in a goldsmith market in the mentioned area.

According to him, among the dead are Ehsanullah Mujahid, son of Allah Gul Mujahid, a former member of Afghanistan’s House of Representatives, one of his bodyguards, and a woman. The identity of the fourth individual has not yet been separately disclosed.

The Taliban police spokesperson identified the cause of the clash as a “personal feud” and stated that one injured attacker and a member of Allah Gul Mujahid’s family have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. No further details were provided regarding the exact motive or how the clash began.

Sarai Shahzada is known as the main currency exchange market in Kabul, surrounded by numerous gold shops and various markets. The occurrence of such armed incidents in one of the busiest commercial areas of the capital once again raises concerns about security in economic zones and the protection of residents and shopkeepers—an issue that the Taliban administration has consistently emphasized as a priority.
