Uzbek Delegation Commits to Expanding Trade with Nangarhar Province

A delegation of 70 Uzbek traders and industrialists, led by Sohrab Abdulrahmanov, Deputy Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Uzbekistan, met with Mohammad Naeem Akhundzada, the Taliban-appointed governor of Nangarhar province, during their visit. The meeting emphasized expanding trade relations, investment, and joint economic cooperation.

According to a press release, the Nangarhar governor stated that Afghanistan, especially Nangarhar, has vast capacities in industry, agriculture, transit, energy, and natural resources, and that the Taliban administration is committed to supporting both domestic and foreign investors. He urged Uzbek traders to take advantage of these opportunities.

In response, the Uzbek delegation members expressed their interest in developing practical and sustainable trade relations with Nangarhar across various sectors and keenly desire to expand economic cooperation between the two sides.

The delegation also extended an official invitation to the Nangarhar governor and traders to visit Uzbekistan to continue discussions and explore cooperation opportunities further.

Economic experts consistently emphasize that the realization of such commitments requires legal stability, transparency in administrative processes, and guarantees for investment security—issues that private sector actors in Afghanistan have repeatedly highlighted over recent years.
