Urgent Call to Admit 5,000 Afghan Allies into the US Amid Refugee Transfer Concerns

The organization ‘Afghan Evoke’ has urged the United States government and Congress to fulfill their commitments toward Afghan allies and not overlook the process of their admission. The group emphasized that thousands of former collaborators with American forces remain in limbo in different countries.

On Tuesday, May 19, Afghan Evoke wrote on its X page that many of these individuals are stranded in Qatar, Pakistan, and other parts of the world. According to Afghan Evoke, these people are those who fought alongside US forces, supported American intelligence and diplomatic operations, and played a role in saving the lives of American citizens.

Afghan Evoke, referring to reports about President Donald Trump’s administration preparing to increase the acceptance of white South African refugees, said that “Afghan allies are being ignored once again.” The organization has called on Congress to facilitate the inclusion of at least 5,000 Afghans within the framework of the US refugee resettlement program.

Meanwhile, some American media outlets, citing sources within the Trump administration, have reported that Washington intends to transfer about 1,100 Afghan refugees, including 400 children, from the Silaya camp in Qatar to the Democratic Republic of Congo. These individuals were relocated to the camp following the fall of Kabul and were promised visas and resettlement in the United States.

In response to this plan, over 600 former US civilian and military officials have signed an open letter to the Secretary of State, urging the cancellation of the transfer of Afghan refugees to Congo. They stressed that the United States has ethical and legal responsibilities toward those who have cooperated with the country in military and diplomatic missions.
